Youth Engagement


The Youth Advisory Group assists Council to better engage with young people when conducting community consultations.

In 2012, the Youth Advisory Group developed the Mount Alexander Youth Engagement Charter. The Charter outlines key principles to consider when engaging with young people within decision making processes.

Young people can apply for up to $1,000 to run their own projects or events.

"Station Y" Youth Space Program


'Station Y' is a programme for all young people between the ages of 12-18 years to socialise and participate in activities in a safe, supervised and supportive environment.

L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program


The VicRoads L2P - learner driver mentor program assists learners under 21 years of age, who do not have access to a supervising driver or vehicle, to gain the driving experience required to apply for a probationary licence.

Young people are matched with fully licensed volunteer mentors and have access to use a sponsored vehicle to gain supervised driving experience. L2P is free for eligible young people and is funded by the TAC.

FReeZa

Our FReeZa Committee plans and coordinates safe, drug, smoke and alcohol free music and cultural events for young people in the Shire.
