The Council maintains the heritage-listed Tea Rooms as a venue for hire to the public. Nestled in the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens, the venue is ideal for gatherings or meetings of up to 40 people. The one room venue offers air conditioning with the option to open shutters that open the building out to the gardens. The gardens were originally designed by notable botanist, Baron von Mueller and some of the surrounding trees are listed by the National Trust, including an ancient oak planted by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1867.
A popular spot for local community groups, the venue is ideal for special celebrations and events. The building is located close to BBQ facilities and a short walk to the children’s playground, offering ready entertainment for families. Toilets are located at the BBQ area.

As per the Terms and Conditions of use, the utmost care must be given to the Tea Rooms, which is a Heritage Victoria registered building. When in use, no items are to be attached or stuck to the walls internally or externally and the venue must be left in a neat and tidy condition at the end of any function including the cleaning of benches and tables, vacuuming floors, returning all furniture to its storage areas, removing all rubbish and recycling, turning off all appliances and lights when leaving and locking the door.
IMPORTANT: Receipt of payment is required when picking up the key from the Customer Service Desk, Corner Lyttleton and Lloyd Streets, Castlemaine.
